Our Story
Florentine roots. A New Zealand future.
Families that last are rarely remembered for what they spent. They're remembered for what they built, and for what they left in good order for the next generation.
Baroncelli, Baronceli
The spelling has changed over the centuries. The way we think about building hasn't.

Florence
The Baroncelli, a family of Florentine merchant bankers, found a chapel in the Basilica of Santa Croce. Taddeo Gaddi paints its walls and Giotto's Coronation of the Virgin stands on its altar. Nearly seven centuries on, it is still there.

A Sketch By Leonardo
Florence is ruled by rival families, and the Baroncelli are caught up in its politics. Leonardo da Vinci sketches Bernardo di Bandino Baroncelli after his execution for his part in the Pazzi conspiracy against the Medici. The drawing survives today in Bayonne, France.

Beyond Florence
With Florence no longer safe, branches of the family leave the city. Some settle in other regions of what is now Italy; others in France, where the Baroncelli keep a house in Avignon for more than four hundred years.

Early 1900s
Brazil
The family crosses the Atlantic and settles in the São Paulo region, then spreads across the country over the generations that follow.

Built In Layers
Patience
Value builds slowly, one layer at a time. We hold for decades, not quarters.
Craft
We come from the building trade. We know what good work costs, and why it's worth it.
Stewardship
We look after our people, partners and places as if they'll outlast us. They should.
